Frugal Recipe: Chick-Fil-A Copy Cat Nuggets

by ClipperGirl on January 17, 2012

I recently purchased 40 lbs. of chicken breast from Zaycon Foods and decided to try my hand at making chicken nuggets.  I’ve been hearing for months that Chick-Fil-A’s secret ingredient is pickle juice. PICKLE JUICE!

So, I decided to give it a try.  I poured a jar of pickles and pickle juice in a plastic bag with the chicken nuggets.  I let it set for 2 hours so that the acids from the pickle juice could be absorbed into the chicken.  I’ll warn you, after 2 hours the juice went from clear to a milky color! Very unappetizing looking!  I poured the juice off.  My husband coated the chicken with Chicken Breader and decided to fry the nuggets.  I am sure they will be fine baked.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the nuggets did; indeed, taste like Chick-Fil-A nuggets!! Who would think that pickle juice was the secret to that wonderful Chick-Fil-A taste!!
